10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Wolverine You Won’t Believe Exist

5. Brother Xavier

Batman Wolverine Dark Claw
Marvel Comics

It's not a good list about Wolverine if it doesn't contain at least one occasion where he simply decided to murder everyone for whatever reason.

While Logan becomes a pacifist when he take up the alias of Brother Xavier, this is only because of all the damage he does beforehand. This is because this universe takes place in a What If? story - namely, What If? #111, which asks the questions of "What if Wolverine was a horseman of war?".

As you might imagine, the answer is bad things happen, as this version of Wolverine has an even higher thirst for blood, and thus manages to kill... pretty much everyone. Well, he starts out with every supervillain at least, as he goes full Punisher and kills every criminal and villain he can get his claws on.

Unfortunately, this raises the alarm of Marvel's heroes, who try to stop their former friend, and get the exact same treatment as their villainous counterparts for it.

After truly proving that Wolvie is the best and what he does - and that what he does certainly isn't nice - he retires into obscurity, becoming a monk who espouses the dangers of violence. It's character progression that comes a little too late, sure, but it's character progression all the same.
