10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Superman You Won't Believe Exist
9. Barack Obama Superman
Just so you know, that isn't us being totally racist by thinking that a black Superman must resembled the US President. Creator Grant Morrison has stated that Calvin Ellis, the Superman of Earth 23, is explicitly based on Barack Obama, though, so I think we're okay. That's still pretty weird, though, sticking the current president in a cameo role as a superhero in the epic Final Crisis crossover that saw the main Superman seeking the help of his analogues across the multiverse. Kalel's origins are almost identical to Kal-El of the main reality, except he is the Commander in Chief. There had been a black Superman before, but Calvin Ellis was the first one to get properly fleshed out, with his White House furnished with a Brainiac supercomputer that covers for the president when he's off doing superheroic shenanigans. It would actually make a lot of sense for America's greatest hero to be the president; it makes less sense having Barack Obama be Superman. Regardless, he'll soon be starring in Morrison's upcoming miniseries Multiversity, so expect to see more of this particular insanity.
