10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Superman You Won't Believe Exist

8. High Councillor Superman

A surprise hit, the Injustice: Gods Among Us fighting game took place in a future dystopia with a dark backstory that was filled in by the tie-in comics. By the time of the videogame the world is a war-torn battleground, with Batman leading an insurgency against the insane and murderous Superman, who has decided to take over the planet whilst wearing a fun new costume and calling himself High Councillor Superman, like he's part of a British governmental cabinet or something. Now the idea of an evil Man of Steel isn't particularly novel - they're a dime a dozen in the DC Universe, which is why you won't see any of them on this list - but the way that he cracks in the Injustice comic books is remarkably insane. Deciding he's bored of toying with the Dark Knight, the Joker instead sets his sights on Superman, tricking him into killing Lois Lane (and the baby of Clark Kent's she was carrying) and dropping a nuclear bomb on Metropolis. He reacts in kind by snapping the Joker's neck when he's being put on trial. Pretty crazy for Superman to straight-up murder a supervillain by snapping his neck, huh. That would be out of character.
