10 Insane Comic Book Villains You'll Never See In Movies

Mister Mxyzptlk

One of the key components of a successful superhero movie is the evil force thrusting the hero into action; where would The Dark Knight be without The Joker? Where would Spider-Man be without The Green Goblin? Or Superman without Lex Luthor? Movies featuring these match-ups have been tremendous critical and commercial successes, and that's because the studios knew what they were doing; they opted for a broad, well-known villain who could fit in effortlessly with a live-action adaptation. There's a reason why these studios don't try to be a little more bold and adapt some of the more...outlandish...comic book villains out there, because we as viewers would likely laugh them off the screen, and mass box office dollars would be lost as a result. While they may have made appearances in cartoons and TV spin-offs, here are 10 insane comic book villains you'll never see in movies...

10. Swarm

Swarm Without question one of Spider-Man's loopiest enemies - and that's really saying something - Swarm aka Fritz von Meyer is a former Nazi scientist who was absolutely obsessed with bees, and upon discovering a mutated bee-hive, decided to attack the Queen, who then ordered the swarm to murder him. However, von Meyer's consciousness was somehow absorbed into the bees, causing the swarm and him to become one, forming the swarm into a humanoid-esque shape and donning a purple cloak. Swarm is able to change his shape at will, and as well as being able to control other bees in the vicinity, he has been able to control other insects, also. Aside from the fact he's just a pretty puny villain, Swarm is likely too goofy to fit within the gritty re-imagined universe of Marc Webb's Spider-Man. Yes, you read that right - a villain who is too goofy for Spider-Man.
