Marvel decided to shake thing up in the nineties by introducing futuristic versions of its most popular characters via the 2099 universe. And of course one of these lucky heroes was that of The Spirit of Vengeance, and they couldn't have been anymore different from the original.

Marvel abandoned his demonic and mystical origins completely. The Rider's makeover for the future would turn him into a cyborg with a robot body looking pretty much identical to the original antihero.

This new story revolves around a hacker named Kenshiro Cochrane. Cochrane was attempting to steal some very important information when he is attacked by a violent gang which results in his murder. After he dies he wakes up in a digital realm known as the Ghostworlds.

A group of Artificial Intelligence programs convinces him to return to the real world and prevent the destruction of humanity. Cochrane accepts and his mind is uploaded into the aforementioned robotic body that is the spitting image of the Ghost Rider.

The end result is a futuristic cyborg version of the Spirit of Vengeance, and it's safe to say this is probably the craziest iteration of the ruthless avenger that's ever been created.
