7. Superman Vs The Terminator: Death To The Future
DC really wanted to pit their flagship characters against beloved sci-fi/horror of 80s and 90s cinema huh? This tale pits Supes, his supporting cast, Sarah and John Connor against Skynet and the Terminators in a tale that is a step up from the Superman/Predator crossover but does not deliver on its full potential.
On the run from Terminators, Sarah and John Connor find themselves in Metropolis and eventually have to fend for themselves against a T-800 in a mall. Fortunately, Superman saves them and subdues the killer robot, setting off a series of events that sees him learning about the struggle against Skynet and John Connor's role in the said struggle.
As the story unfolds, Superman travels to the future, Steel is revealed to be a key member of the resistance and Cyborg Superman and Lex Luthor enter the fray.
The crossover features hero-on-killer robot action, a dystopian Metropolis, and Sky-1, the physical manifestation of Skynet itself. The story is fine but the action is repetitive and Superman's rogues do not fare well in terms of depth and motivation. However, it makes for a fine if unmemorable read for fans of both franchises.
