10 Insane Supervillain Schemes You Won't Believe
3. Doctor Doom's Chess Game
A lot of what can only be described as wild shenanigans occur in the 2004 Marvel Knights: Hulk spinoff. Bruce Banner gets amnesia and hallucinates having a conversation with the Hulk, and then there are the exploding mutants, as well as a Hulk vs Hulk showdown later on in the comic itself.
Yet out of all of these crazy events, there is one that sticks out particularly within the comic, where we are shown that the shenanigans in question have been the product of an ongoing chess game between Doctor Doom and Doctor Midas. Given how elaborate and seemingly unplannable the previous events of the comic are, it has to be wondered whether Doom and Midas were actively controlling events - which is crazy - or just set the events into motion and predicted what would unfold - which is even crazier.
Orchestrating mass destruction to win a game of chess is likely not the strangest thing Doctor Doom has ever done, but it is weird to wonder what lengths the Doctor is willing to go to for such little gain.
