10 Insane Supervillain Schemes You Won't Believe
4. Lex Luthor Steals 40 Cakes
As it comes from a dictionary intended to use superheroes to teach kids words, it should come as no surprise that Lex Luthor's evil scheme in the Super Dictionary is not on quite the same level of brutality as the majority of other schemes in the comic book world. That said, anyone who has seen anything of the world's weirdest dictionary knows said scheme is still completely weird.
The fact that Luthor is apparently so profoundly evil that he will immediately steal whatever he can is a weird interpretation of the character, not to mention the fact that the author felt the need to explicitly say that the theft was "terrible", as though children would have no idea that stealing was bad up until this moment.
The main thing to consider here are the questions that are raised: namely, why is billionaire Lex Luthor resorting to stealing cakes, and more importantly, what exactly does he want with them?
Hilariously, this deranged dictionary entry has ended up so well known and beloved among fans that it has actually been referenced in several comics afterwards - to the extent that it is actually a part of Lex's backstory in the 2011 canon. Mercifully, he is a child for this crime there, as an adult Luthor hatching a plot for forty cakes is maybe something best left to the older comics.
