One of the DC Universe's many manifestations of the concept of death, alongside Death of the Endless from The Sandman series, and The Black Racer of the New Gods.

First appearing as an enemy of Oa and the Green Lantern Corps, Nekron's biggest impact on DC history was as the driving force behind 2009's Blackest Night event, which introduced the Black Lanterns to the Oan power ring spectrum.

Any previously dead characters were resurrected with the Black Lantern rings, to be controlled by Nekron, with his army of undead superheroes eventually including Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Animal Man and many others.

With an ever increasing force of deceased heroes at his command, Nekron was a huge threat to the DC Universe.
