10 Key Members Of The Justice Society Of America

6. Wildcat (Ted Grant)

Justice Society Of America
DC Comics

One of DC's most competent fighters, Wildcat first appeared in Sensation Comics #1 in 1942 and has served the Justice Society longer than many.

The original Wildcat was Ted Grant, a heavyweight boxing champion in the 1930s. Framed for murder, Grant was inspired by the Mystery Men of the time and donned a costume to capture the true culprit and clear his name.

Deciding to become a crime-fighting vigilante, Wildcat later joined the Justice Society during World War II and used his fighting talent to help fight alongside the allies.

Over the years, Grant used his skills to train other superheroes, including Batman, Black Canary, and Catwoman. Granted nine lives by the Magician Zatara, he lived to be a founding member of the new JSA in the Modern Age.

Grant's legacy was also maintained by his goddaughter, Yolanda Montez, who also became Wildcat and served alongside the JSA and Infinity Inc.

Wildcat was featured in the Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated series, as well as appearing in CW's Arrow, Smallville and Stargirl. Both Grant and Montez have appeared in Stargirl, with the latter taking up the mantle to fight the Injustice Society.
