10 Key Members Of The Justice Society Of America

7. Mister Terrific (Michael Holt)

Justice Society Of America
DC Comics

Based on the legacy of the original Mister Terrific - a costumed crimefighter from the 1940s - the second Mister Terrific was Michael Holt, a former gold medal-winning Olympian and businessman.

First appearing in The Spectre #54 from 1997, Holt has used his athletic abilities, scientific know-how, as well as his natural leadership, to become the chairman of the modern JSA.

Before he became a superhero, Holt was a success through his athletics fame and subsequent electronics company. However, when his wife was killed in a car accident, he contemplated committing suicide - unable to cope with life being 'unfair' to him. Before going any further, the mystical presence known as 'The Spectre' intervened.

Holt learned that he could use his talents and skills to help people and save lives. He took on the moniker of one of the original Mystery Men - a vigilante who focused on saving his neighbourhood one person at a time rather than the whole world.

Included in his arsenal were the T-Spheres - floating devices of Holt's own design which could be used for attack, defence, scanning, and projecting holograms.

Like the original Mister Terrific Terry Sloane, Holt's philosophy was based around 'Fair Play' and justice for all.

A version of this character also appeared in the Arrowverse. Going by the name of 'Curtis Holt,' this Mister Terrific assisted Green Arrow in his war against crime in Star City.
