5. Most Of The Green Lanterns I've Read About

Most of the Green Lanterns I know, especially the human ones, have origins that would make you think they could never be Green Lanterns. Hal Jordan was the overconfident ne'er-do-well. John Stewart was all too jaded about the harsh realities of the world and the consequences of irresponsibility. Kyle Rayner felt a great deal of collateral from his distant parents. Simon Baz stole cars. Guy Gardner dabbled in a little of all of the above. And yet they were all given the honor of becoming Green Lanterns. Even with what tuns out to be their truly great willpower, each of their personalities affected the success of their endeavors. It's not often you can be a good person and be in a position to destroy the universe, but many of them have been in positions to do just that. Some of them were even killed in the process, yet nevertheless survived to deal with the aftermath of their actions. And this seems to be a common thing within the Corps, since many of the Green Lanterns from other worlds also have personalities that bring about just as many shades of green.
