10 Manga You MUST Read
6. One Punch Man
This comedic superhero romp started life as a webcomic before its transition into the wildly popular manga we know today. We are introduced to Saitama, the titular character of the story who is essentially unbeatable thanks to his dreaded punching power.
At a first glance, Saitama possesses little of the features we most commonly associate with superheroes. Often sporting a rather listless expression, the bald-headed, ordinary bodied Saitama struggles with a problem no mere mortal could comprehend. He is simply incapable of finding a villain on his level. His hopes raise with every new threat that finally he has found himself a true challenge.
Nope.
Everyone falls like the one before them to that trusty one punch. As successful as Saitama’s superheroics are, they have lead to him leading an empty, rather boring life. With every new defeat, Saitama succumbs further to his ever dreaded boredom. For his sake, we find ourselves hoping someone will come along one day diabolical enough to seriously endanger the mega powerful hero.
A surprise hit with readers, One Punch Man is a fun satire poking holes in many of the more traditional tropes of manga. Despite his invulnerability, Saitama remains a sympathetic lead out to conquer bigger and better challenges in life.
