10 Marvel Duos Who Will Never Meet In The MCU

1. Iron Man And Dr Doom

In a mirroring of the Superior Spider-Man - a storyline that saw Doctor Octopus take control of Peter Parker’s body - there was a time that Doctor Doom took on the mantle of Iron Man while Tony Stark was in a coma.

His tenure as the ‘Infamous’ Iron Man was relatively short-lived and fraught with unease and spite from heroes and villains, but it highlighted the similarities between the two – perhaps Iron Man and Doctor Doom are not so different after all.

Both are super-powered rich geniuses that exert their power and influence from inside a suit of armour. And while Doom is mostly known as a supervillain, he has a moral ambiguity and tragedy to his character that makes him more than a 2-dimensional tyrant.

Victor Von Doom is simply too great a character not to adapt into the MCU, especially after the disappointing attempts of the Fantastic 4 movies. If RDJ’s Tony Stark were still around, there could have been amazing opportunities to explore the dynamic between the hero and villain, playing off their similarities as well as their differences.

With Tony gone, Doom may never get to meet him, but it wouldn’t be impossible for him to take his place.
