10 Marvel Duos Who Will Never Meet In The MCU

2. Wolverine And Captain America

Captain America Wolverine
Marvel Comics

Similarly to Deadpool, Captain America and Wolverine were both turned into weapons of war by their governments. Wolverine has known war all his life, and encountered Captain America during World War II, giving the characters a unique shared history.

Wolverine is more of a lone wolf compared to Cap’s leader instincts (Wolvie turned down an offer of partnership when they met during WWII), but there is a strong mutual respect and understanding between them, one that led Logan to join Captain America’s anti-registration side during the Civil War event.

This would have been an interesting dynamic to see play out onscreen, but it’s not something that could realistically be worked into the canon. While it’s likely that Disney and Marvel will bring some version of Wolverine into the MCU, despite 2017’s Logan being Hugh Jackman’s last outing as the character, it would be too late to establish his relationship with Steve Rogers, whose story came to a close in Avengers: Endgame. He passed the title of Captain America onto Sam Wilson, the Falcon, at the end of the film.

In order to adapt the two characters’ shared history, Wolverine would have to have been introduced into the MCU years ago.
