10 Marvel Duos Who Will Never Meet In The MCU
7. The Punisher And Norman Osborn
A one-man army dedicated to his lethal war on crime, the
Punisher tends to stick to street thugs rather than targeting supervillains.
This has as much to do with the publisher as anything else; his lethal methods
and unstoppable determination would lead him to kill any valuable character he
went after.
He changed his tune during the Dark Reign event, when he set his sights on Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin. At this point Osborn held the position of head of national security, which he used to replace the Avengers and X-men with his own teams of super-villains.
Castle was ultimately unsuccessful, and was killed by Wolverine’s son Daken, who was impersonating his father at the time. He was later controversially resurrected as ‘Frankencastle’.
Willem Dafoe’s iconic take on Norman Osborn returned to cinemas in Spider-man: No Way Home, having been brought over to the MCU by Doctor Strange’s spell. As a fish out of water, he held no political power, so it’s hard to imagine him elevated to head of national security.
At the end of the film, Osborn was safely returned to his own timeline, before Jon Bernthal’s Punisher could get a shot at him.
