10 Marvel Duos Who Will Never Meet In The MCU
5. Spider-Man And Carnage
While Carnage may be known as the arch-nemesis of Venom, or as a leading man in comics such as Carnage: USA, the character originated in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man. He was devised by writer David Michelinie to replace Venom as a symbiotic supervillain, as Venom’s antihero characteristics were being emphasised more and more.
If Venom was a dark reflection of Spider-Man, Carnage was an even darker reflection; a psychopathic killer who was repulsed by the idea of morality. Too powerful to bring down alone, Spidey would resort to enlisting the help of Venom to fight Carnage.
Over the years the character became more of a Venom villain, as Eddie Brock shares more personal connections with Cletus Kasady than Peter Parker ever did. Still, the Web-head is often roped into battles with Carnage, usually siding with Brock in the process.
Carnage debuted onscreen in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, depicting his origin story through to his death, without a spider in sight. The post-credits scenes of that film and No Way Home have left things uncertain about Venom’s future with Spider-Man, but Woody Harrelson’s Carnage is unlikely to meet Peter after having his head bitten off.
