10 Marvel Heroes Who Underwent RADICAL Transformations

7. Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain

Ultron Cap Shield
Marvel Comics

Betsy Braddock has had a colourful past, she has been Captain Britain, twice, a ninja, an assassin and even swapped bodies with a Japanese woman for decades, only recently resolving that issue in 2018. She is a fan favourite character that has been on many different X-Men teams, most notably X-Force mostly with the codename, Psylocke.

In 2019 during the Dawn of X initiative, following Jonathan Hickman's guideline for the X-Men titles, Betsy Braddock formed the team Excalibur to investigate Morgan Le Fay's transactions in Otherworld. Shortly, before Excalibur's formation, Besty worked alongside her brother Brian Braddock travelled to Avalon after a magical disturbance.

They found Morgan Le Fay was Queen regent of both Avalon and Otherworld, the magical interference from Morgan Le Fay corrupted Brian and before she could take the power of Captain Britain, he passed on to Amulet of Right to Betsy.

This gave Betsy the power of Captain Britain and she used it with her new team to free her brother and Otherworld from Morgan Le Fay's influence. Betsy's new role as Captain Britain males her a focal point for more magical elements to crossover with the mutants. Past X-men stories have crossed paths with magic, from Limbo to Asgard and Besty is the mutants magical defence against them.
