"With great power comes great responsibility." A truer statement has never been spoken, but what Uncle Ben forgot to mention to nephew Peter Parker was that, sometimes, with great power comes a very startling appearance. In the Marvel Universe, a vast majority of the mutant population possess mutations that allow them to walk freely among the public without alerting those around them that they possess extraordinary abilities. Characters like Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and Professor Xavier can weave in and out of day-to-day life without raising eyebrows. Unfortunately, the statement "all men are created equal" does not apply to mutants, as some find themselves burdened with mutations that leave them with appearances that most would find undesirable,or downright frightening! This article counts down the ten mutants inhabiting the Marvel Universe who possess mutations that cause them to look physically inhuman!
10. Chamber
Kicking off our countdown is none other than one of the major players of the defunct Generation-X. faction, Jonathan Starsmore, better know as Chamber. His mutation is unique because his chest basically acts as a furnace for psionic energy. It is actually believed that Chamber may be one of the most powerful mutants on earth, with the theory being that he is comprised of nothing but psionic energy as he is immune to the death touch of Omega Red and doesn't require sustenance after part of his face blew off. Oh, wait, didn't we mention that part yet? As a result of his mutation, when Chamber first used his abilities, part of his upper-chest and his lower-face blew off, leaving a gaping hole in a good chunk of his body. As a result, Chamber can only communicate telepathically and, as mentioned earlier, it's believed that he's either made entirely of psionic energy or that it sustains him without the need for Oxygen or food as he is unable to breathe or eat without the vital organs he lost due to the manifestation of his powers. When his injury is uncovered, the energy flows out of Chamber as if his body is on fire, giving him a rather unconventional appearance.
