Now, imagine if this wasn't an act of birth, but was instead an act of science, and you were created to be this way.
That's the life that Laura Kinney has forced upon her. She's the 23rd attempt to create a Wolverine clone and is raised by the Weapon X program to be the perfect hunter/killer.
A trained assassin whose only role in life is to kill for money, X-23 is damn good at her job. So good in fact that when her surrogate mother's niece is abducted by a serial killer, its Laura she sets on his trail. She is eventually freed from her captivity when she destroys the facility that has been her jail her entire life, before she goes after Wolverine and kicks his ass.
With a body count that rivals even Deadpool's, it's not too much of a stretch to say that Laura's past still haunts her every waking moment.
