Marvel is filled to the brim with celestial artifacts, magic gems, and totems of extraordinary power. Some of these items have been used to improve the universe, but when it comes to the creation of "Fruity Pebbles Panther" we only have King Solomon's frogs to thank.

The frogs themselves are Wakandan artefacts that can warp time and space, the downside being no one can predict how the frogs will effect them. For instance, in one of his earlier adventures Black Panther used these artefacts and was sent to the future - at the exact moment of a Skrull Invasion.

Dubious methods aside, T'Challa ends up on the wrong side of the effects of these frogs in 2002, when his essence was split in two, and separated throughout time. One Panther, the serious, stern and pessimistic one was kept in the current timeline; the other Panther seemed extremely cheerful by comparison, and was sent 10 years into the future.

When a fight with a brainwashed Iron Fist leaves the brooding Panther with a brain aneurysm, the effects are felt through time, and by both Panthers. While the main continuity Black Panther was able to recover from this ailment, the happy or "Fruity Pebbles" Panther's injuries proved fatal.
