If there's anything crazier than the Merc with the Mouth, then it just might be these facts.

When Rob Liefield first gave the world Deadpool, back in 1991's New Mutants #98, there is no way that he, or Marvel, could've envisioned just how popular the character would become. After all, the Deadpool of that comic book barely resembles the pop culture juggernaut of today, and really only shares the same name.

And it's not been the easiest ride for the Merc with the Mouth either, as at different times he has been canceled or just pushed to the back by the House of Ideas. But you can't keep a good assassin down and he has risen, phoenix-like, from the ashes, time and again, to lay a claim to being the most popular comic book character doing the rounds today.

But what lurks behind his bloodstained mask? What skeletons hide in the closet he locks Blind Al in at every given opportunity?

With someone who has such a checkered past as Wade Wilson there are going to be a lot of surprises. This list takes a closer look at some of the most insane facts that the gun-toting, sword-wielding, wise-cracking Deadpool would rather you didn't know.

In 2016's Spider-Man/Deadpool #8, a drug-addled Susan Mary is a willing test subject for Patient Zero, as she hopes it will help her make some difference in the world. She is transformed into the creature known as Itsy Bitsy, a name given to her by the Web-Head after she joins in their battle with the Hateful Hexad while singing the nursery rhyme, and even though her initial deal with Zero is to kill both the heroes, she soon goes back on it and decides instead to help fight crime.

So far, so good, except she's insane and feels the only way to deal with injustice is to kill all those responsible.

This puts her at odds with her fathers, to the point where Peter Parker considers permanently ending her rampage himself, but it's Deadpool who does the deed, seemingly vaporizing her with a plasma beam.

But no-one stays dead in comic books and Itsy Bitsy's healing factor is slowly, but surely, bringing her back to life.
