10 Mind Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Venom

7. Brock Became A Symbiote-Hunter In His Later Years

Marvel Comics

Having eventually departed from the symbiote, Eddie looked to get his life back on track, and was eventually absolved from his crimes through some top-notch lawyering, curtesy of everyone's favourite legal eagle, Matt Murdock.

Brock's post-Venom life would bring him into contact with Martin Li, who fans of the upcoming Insomniac Spidey title will know as the villainous Mr. Negative. Li gave Eddie a job and, for the most part, things were looking up for the guy; he'd been cured of his cancer, was moving on from the suit, and was settling down as much as a former alien host could, really.

Then Mac Gargan came a knocking. Sensing that the suit preferred Brock to him, he attempted to kill Eddie, only for the suit to attempt a reunion with his former host. Brock's body rejected the parasite however, and after conjuring a new Venom suit - one poisonous to the traditional line of alien symbiotes - set out to destroy Gargan, white threads and all.

Brock would later track down other rogue suits, bonding with another symbiote, Toxin, before assisting the FBI in their efforts to track down a newly escaped Cletus Kasady.

It made for a neat turn for the character, so it feels a tad anticlimactic to discover that he is, once again, in the symbiote come Marvel Legacy. Can't the guy catch a break?

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
