3. He Was Merged With Green Lantern In An Alternative Universe
After Marvel and DC pitted their iconic heroes against one another in the aptly-titled DC vs Marvel Comics miniseries, the publishers teamed up and merged some of their characters to form all-new ones under their shared Amalgam Comics imprint.
One of those character was Iron Lantern, a combination of Iron Man and Green Lantern. His alter ego is Hal Stark, an aircraft mogul who is fatally injured in a plane crash, but survives after fashioning a high-tech suit powered by a lantern-like battery he salvaged from the wreckage of an alien spacecraft.
Hal basically possesses Iron Man and Green Lantern's abilities rolled into one. While wearing his Lantern-based suit, he boasts the powers of flight, super strength, super speed, time travel, energy manipulation and energy projection. He's pretty formidable.
Like many of the Amalgam characters, Iron Lantern's villains are basically Marvel and DC foes spliced together in a hamfisted way, such as Mandarinestro, Dr. Whiplash and H.E.C.T.O.R.
