10 Modern Comic Book Runs Destined To Become Classics

1. Brian K. Vaughn's Saga

There really was only one correct choice for what was going to be the top dog on this list. Brian K. Vaughn has been around the comic industry for some time, grinding out some of the best material for both Marvel and DC. But above them all, Saga is his masterstroke.

With a richly detailed, original universe to play around with, great, complex characters, and beautiful artwork to portray them all with, Vaughn demonstrates to the entire world why he is the king of the hill.

But most importantly, what this series has over the other entries on this list: things change, and stay changed. This story keeps itself really close, personal, and intimate a lot of the time, and wisely so. But when it pulls out the big Star Wars style universe-wide shake up events, you feel every inch of it because you know that every change here will be stuck to and not retconned in a future story because a new writer wants to do this or that.

More than any of the other entries on this list, Saga is the one most destined to be remembered in the same vein as The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. It is nothing short of a modern classic in the making.
