10 Modern Comics That TOTALLY Changed Marvel History
4. Death Of The Inhumans - 2018
The unfortunate thing about the Inhumans is that, essentially, Marvel used them in a way that required fans to hate them.
While they were initially created in 1965, the Inhumans had been pushed into obscurity, disappearing almost entirely from comics between 1977-1988. From 2007 onwards, however, they would be made more and more prevalent, as higher-ups realised the potential value of the group - in that they could be used to replace the X-Men, who many Marvel executives wanted rid of as Fox possessed the rights to the characters onscreen.
When Marvel finally regained these rights, they realised they'd made one key error: establishing the Inhumans as some new, quasi-indestructible version of the much-beloved group of mutants. Their attempt to fix this came in the form of Death of the Inhumans, which sees the vast majority of the group wiped out, and their leader, Black Bolt, stripped of his powers.
It's still a long way before the majority of fans actually like the Inhumans - but it's also a solid step in the right direction. Point being - never replace the X-Men.
