In recent years, it has come to light that the X-Men's founder, Professor Charles Xavier, has used his telepathic powers to perform unethical actions. At one point or another, he has pretended he lost his abilities, read people's minds without their consent, and abandoned his step-brother to die in a cave. Every time someone confronts Professor X about his questionable deeds, he usually spouts something under the lines of "it was for the greater good".

One day, Emma Frost got so sick of Xavier's hypocrisy, she used her psychic abilities to force him to experience every indecent act he committed simultaneously. Xavier was shocked to relive his most shameless actions including when he put Magneto in a vegetative state, pretended he could cure Rogue's powers, and stopped Moira MacTaggert from leaving him using his telepathy.

Still making excuses for his demeanour, Emma forced Xavier to relive the moment when Scott Summers' brother, Gabriel, seemingly died. Scott was so traumatised by his sibling's demise, Xavier believed it was in his best interest to erase his memory so he forgot Gabriel ever existed. Xavier finally conceded and admitted he couldn't defend what he had done.
