10 Moments When Superman Was A Real Jerk
1. When He Tries to Kill Lois Lane
Superman's relationship with Lois Lane is so ingrained in our culture that it made headlines when DC Comics decided to reboot it's continuity and no longer feature Clark Kent and Lois Lane as a married couple in 2011. However, for most of Superman's history Lois was unaware of Superman's secret identity.
She often suspected there was something more behind Clark's glasses, which led to dozens of stories about Lois putting herself into danger in order to get Superman's attention as she desperately hoped he would fall in love with her. Of course, Superman being the jerk that he often was in those days regularly used Lois' sadly pathetic attempts to gain his affection as opportunities to belittle, embarrass, or just flat-out attempt murder on Lois.
Most of the time he tried to kill her he'd save her at the last moment and say, "Ha, ha! That's what you get for snooping!" These days one can look back at these issues and read them as a woman's sad attempts to win the heart of a man who would rather abuse her emotions and threaten her life. Or you can just laugh hysterically at the idea of Lois professing her love for the Man of Steel only for Superman to respond by trying to kill her. It depends on your sense of humour.
