10 More Comic Book Teams That Need Their Own Movie

9. Team Mystery

DC Comics

Earlier this year, DC's fan-favourite Batman writer Scott Snyder was given the opportunity to take over writing duties on flagship title Justice League. The comic book had received a relaunch in 2016 as part of DC's Rebirth initiative, but the title left a lot to be desired.

Before the relaunch came, however, Snyder created a story with fellow writers Joshua Williamson and James Tynion IV, and artist Francis Manapul. The 4-issue No Justice limited series was an ideal stop-gap to showcase the shape of things to come. The recently ended Dark Nights: Metal crossover event had resulted in the DC universe's Source Wall being broken up, opening the universe to new allies and threats alike.

The story begins with Brainiac arriving on Earth and soundly disabling the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Titans, and Teen Titans. But he's not really here to fight. Rather, he has a warning: help me save my home planet from the four Omega Titans and thus the universe, or die among yourselves.

Essentially, the story was a convoluted but fun way of bringing together four improbable teams - named Mystery, Wonder, Entropy, and Wisdom - under the premise of making them up of members that could complement each other in atypical ways. The most bizarre, Team Mystery, consisted of Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Starfire (so far, so normal), but also the evil Sinestro, and everyone's favourite giant telepathic starfish, Starro.

Seeing Superman grudgingly work with Sinestro against a common enemy, with Starro running wild and making jokes, would show that DC and Warner Bros. aren't afraid to take a bizarre creative risk.
