10 More Comic Book Teams That Need Their Own Movie
6. Justice League Dark
Justice League Dark's reason for being is simple: to deal with the threats the regular Justice League can't. Magical threats.
Technically, the JLD has already received the movie treatment - but that was an animated movie not connected to the live action DC/Warner Bros. movie universe, and, quite frankly, rather terrible.
Director/writer/horror legend Guillermo del Toro was first mooted to take the reins on a live action adaptation back in 2012, a year after the JLD first debuted as part of DC's New 52 relaunch, and later confirmed he was actively working on it. Sadly, del Toro left the project due his perceived conflict with the Constantine live action TV series. He's gone back and forth since then, finally turning in a script that's waiting to be filmed. As of now, the wheels have stopped.
Which is a shame. Unlike many a superhero team, the JLD was brought together through prophecy, and reluctantly at that. Psychic fortune teller Madame Xanadu brought the team together after receiving a vision showing the world ending should they, which presented: the members of the team are typically lone wolves.
British master of the occult John Constantine is particular has a well-deserved reputation for chewing people up and spitting them out. Add to the team a rotating cast including a former love interest, a ghost, a man with a magical vest, and a vampire, and things start to get spicy.
