5. Old Exosuit Batman
Over on Earth-22, Batman is a little older and uses his superior intellect in different ways. His body being ravaged by years of crime fighting, Batman has an exo-suit grafted onto his damaged body. Instead of facing his enemies head on, he prefers to use electronics and robots to deter any problems he might have. In the story Kingdom Come, popular public support for superheroes who are not afraid to murder their enemies brings in a new breed of 'metahumans'. This causes Superman to come out of his retirement and try to assemble the Justice League. But Batman being Batman is filled with angst and guilt at letting these metahumans run amok when he should have been a mentor. Instead of joining the Justice League, Batman constructs his own army of robots and his own super team that help to control crime in Gotham city. In the story, Batman seemingly sides with Lex Luthor in order to get reveal his plans. But don't worry, Batman comes good in the end and is eventually revered as a teacher to younger heroes and even becomes the godfather of Superman and Wonder Woman's child.
