10 More Most Inappropriate DC Comics Storylines Ever

1. The Sexual Assault Of Sue Dibny

Batman Nightwing Tarantula
DC Comics

This writer, like any writer anywhere, doesn’t relish having to write two separate list entries that start with “The sexual assault of…”. However, in this particular list, it’s unavoidable as Tarantula’s assault of Nightwing isn’t the only time DC Comics has crossed this particular line.

Sue Dibny was more than just the wife of Elongated Man, she was a member of the Justice League family in her own right, and when the 2004 arc 'Identity Crisis' began with her murder and the mystery surrounding the culprit, the Justice League sprang into action.

As the team kept digging and digging, working to get closer to the truth, it was revealed that in the past Sue Dibny had been attacked and r*ped by Doctor Light. The issue was tough to read, and even harder to look at, with most fans questioning why DC chose to go down this dark route at all.

The punishment for such an act went far beyond a prison cell for the villain. The Justice League came together and essentially removed any intelligence he had in his mind and left him as a shell of a human. This particular part of the story was a swing and a miss from DC from the start, as no one really came out of it smelling of roses.
