7. Dark Dimension
The Dark Dimension is the largest of the shattered domains in the Universe also known as Subwhere. Mhuruuks, a group of multi-species wizards tamed the land and, for many Earth centuries, the area knew peace. Two Faltine fugitives, Dormammu and Umar were banished to the Dark Dimension and befriended the latest Wizard ruler, Olnar. The pair pushed him to annex more areas, including the dimensions of the Mindless Ones. They betrayed Olnar, killing him and the other wizards and Dormammu took over control of the Dark Dimension.
Dormammu has become a frequent foe of the Earth dimension’s Sorcerer Supreme, Dr. Strange as Dormammu is constantly trying to expand the influence of the Dark Dimension into the Earthly plane. The region is rife with wild magical forces and Strange has also had to contend with Dormammu’s sister Umar. Her daughter, Clea became Strange’s ally and eventual wife.
Science has no place in the Dark Dimension. Concepts like distance, space, and direction have no meaning in this land of abstract landscapes and alternate realities. Magic rules the area and it is out of control. Also, the Mindless Ones are destruction personified. They can not be reasoned with. Getting in their way is death.
