Should you ever need to do the strange task of making a huge fan of Spider-Man cry, reminding them of the Death of Harry Osborn storyline is one of the best ways to get them sobbing as fast as possible.

The story takes place after Harry becomes the Green Goblin, and covers what - at the time - appeared to be the pair's final battle, in which the long-suffering Osborn heir finally came back to his senses, just in time to save Spider-Man from being killed.

While Gwen Stacey's death is undeniably emotional, seeing Harry spend his final moments telling Peter that he was sorry and still considered him his best friend, even after all that had happened between them, is a surefire one-way ticket to feelings town.

Though this would be cheapened by the later decision to make it so Harry merely faked his death, it's impossible to read through the pair's goodbyes to one another without getting some kind of second-hand emotions about the whole thing.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
