10 Most Emotional Spider-Man Stories Ever

3. Leah - Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Annual #1

Spectacular Spider-Man J Jonah Jameson Identity
Marvel Comics

The saddest conceivable story that could possibly have been conveyed in a mere six pages, Leah follows the tale of a young homeless girl. We are shown, in brutal detail, that Leah sleeps in a cardboard box covered with pictures of Spider-Man, who she imagines going on cool adventures with while she suffers in the cold and cruel outdoors.

So, how does the story end? Does Spider-Man help her? Is she rescued from her life of poverty and misery?

Well, actually, she sort of dies at the end - making all the previous parts of the story even more tragic. Just to wrench a few more tears from you, it's shown that her final moments on Earth she spends deliriously dreaming of one final adventure with her hero, unaware that the real Spider-Man is at her bedside, mourning her.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
