10 Most Epically Disastrous Comic Book Events

5. DC vs. Marvel

It was inevitable. What I can only dream of is that they'll try it again. Part of this crossover was determined by fan votes, part of it was predetermined, but unfortunately all of it was a waste of time. Everyone knew that Marvel vs. DC was a hypothetical. We all knew that fans would ultimately have trouble getting behind it because everyone is going to want their favorite to win. But we were promised the destruction of one of the two Universes based on whomever "won". The premise being that two brothers learning of the others existence for the first time use each Universe's heroes to duke it out was...alright. And Marvel actually got more votes than DC. But we all knew that at the end of the day, neither of them would ever accept defeat. So how did it resolve? As most epic stories do, with the deus ex machina moment from DC's the Spectre and Marvel's the Living Tribunal. The brothers had to sort out their differences by creating a new Universe and the inter-dimensional character Access helped the brothers see the error of their ways and all was well in the end with the characters being allowed to return to their respective Universes. Bollox. What we need is the guts to follow through on the hypothetical and let it be it's own graphic novel with its own ending. This is the type of even that shouldn't be cannon, and the type of event that cannot be resolved in one winner and one loser, but rather the incredible amount of power coming from both universe's causing the destruction of both. Boom. End of story. Epic battles and destruction and the end, everyone's dead. It's the immoveable object vs. the unstoppable force argument. Who would win? Neither. They'd both be destroyed. But what's the easy way out? Two brothers learning to play nice in the sand box together. Sentimental hogwash Mr. Bailey.
