10 Most Gruesome Moments In DC History

While there have been many comics that have featured Batman taking down the rest of my caped pals, few are as genuinely unnerving as that of the Dark Nights: Batman Who Laughs series.

The comic features the backstory of how the villainous Batman Who Laughs came to be, complete with his murder of all the extended Batfamily, the Justice League, and anyone else who happens to be in the immediate area. This culminates in one of the most unsettling scenes the villains has managed thus far, where we watch as he uses all the various weapons that the Justice League have gathered over the years in order to brutally annihilate each one in different creative ways.

And, as the proverbial cherry on top of the nightmare cake, we learn what exactly happened to Damian Wayne, the one person Batman didn't actually kill. Instead, Batman tortured his biological son until he mutilated himself, wrapping barbed wire around his arms and legs and forcing his face into a gruesome smile with what appear to be metal hooks placed inside his face.

Essentially, the comic proves that our usual grim-dark Batman could easily be much, much worse.
