10 Most Hated Retcon Changes In DC Comics

9. The Superboy-Prime Punch - Infinite Crisis

There have been Crises both good and bad, but one thing most fans can agree on is that Infinite Crisis was a bit of a doozy.

Another event designed to streamline DC continuity, Infinite saw the introduction of the Superboy-Prime Punch, which shattered reality and caused several convenient changes to occur. One of them was even having Hal Jordan's criminal record expunged from the record (oddly specific, but sure), but by far the most egregious offence came in the pages of Batman, which saw Jason Todd resurrected by Prime's attacks against the timestream.

Later iterations of the DCU have retconned Jason's return (itself a retcon to begin with - retcon-ception?) to the far more believable and organic explanation that he was resurrected by Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit, but the fact he's still alive is still a point of contention among Bat-fans specifically.

The main problem with Prime's punch - aside from the aforementioned dead Robin's return - was the fact it felt so unnecessary. It actually had the effect of making everything just a little bit more contrived, and led to another Crisis a few years later anyway.
