10 Most Heartbreaking Deadpool Moments
8. Killing Peter Parker
Being close friends with people can be hard - especially in a theoretical situation where your pal believes you are a supervillain, and attempts to murder you to help out your costumed alter-identity. While this hopefully hasn't been a scenario any real person has faced, it is the case for Spider-Man in his 2016-2018 crossover with Deadpool, as the Merc' decides to help out his best buddy by killing Peter Parker.
The idea of Wade accidentally killing one of his closest friends and idol is tragic enough, but combine this with the slow, several issues long build-up to the murder and the whole thing becomes downright unbearable, as it becomes clear that the only reason Deadpool wants to kill Parker in the first place is to be more like his web-slinging bestie.
Worse yet, we learn the reason he doesn't bring his plan up to Spider-Man is to protect him from being involved in a killing, which is both beautifully ironic and absolutely, unshakeably heartbreaking.
