10 Most Important Events In Batman History

8. Meeting His (Secretly Evil) Dad - The Flash #21

One of the most surprising things about Batman meeting his father is that it's a massive plot detail that's not actually revealed in a Batman series or spin-off - instead being first revealed to us in April with The Flash #21, and then appearing in Batman #22 an entire month later.

This version of Thomas is not his direct father, as he's from an alternate universe where Bruce was killed in the alleyway shooting instead of Thomas and Martha, meaning that their reunion is a pretty emotional moment for both characters. It also appears to give Bruce a genuine sense of closure on the death of his parents, resulting in some pretty colossal character growth for a man who has long been characterised as unable to get over this traumatic experience.

Crucially, this also has huge relevance in the current storylines, as this version of Thomas manages to return to Bruce's universe, although seemingly at the cost of his sanity and morals, as he proceeds to wreak havoc as one of Batman's newest and most dangerous rivals.
