1. Bruce Gets Barbara Pregnant - Mark Of The Phantasm

Batman The Animated Series Batgirl
DC Comics

Following on from the phenomenal Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond remains a favourite of many a Bat-fan to this very day. With Terry McGinnis picking up the mantle of Batman in the Neo-Gotham of 2039 - with Bruce Wayne serving as his mentor, of course - this show wowed in how it was respectful to what had gone before, yet branched out to create a lore all of its own.

Much like BTAS, Beyond is also an animated offering that continued to live on in comic-book form.

While Batman Beyond had shown a Barbara Gordon who was serving as Commissioner of Neo-Gotham, and a Tim Drake who had exited the hero game entirely after a traumatic run-in with the Joker for the one-time Robin, someone conspicuous by their absence was Dick Grayson.

All that fans of the TV series knew, was that Dick had left Gotham City in his rear-view mirror. In Batman Beyond 2.0's seven-part Mark of the Phantasm arc, though, we got to find out the truth behind Grayson cutting himself off from the world.

With Dick and Barbara having been on-again, off-again lovers over the years, Grayson arrived back from an excursion to shockingly learn that Babs had been sleeping with Bruce, that she was pregnant, and that the father of the child was indeed Batman. Tragically, Barbara would lose the baby, and Dick Grayson would leave Gotham City permanently.

Most jarring about all of this, is how much of a total d**khead Bruce acts to both Barbara and Dick.
