6. Spanking Dick - The Isle That Time Forgot

Batman The Animated Series Batgirl
DC Comics

Ah, the Golden Age of Comics...

When looking back at those days - usually classed as 1938 - 1956 - there are a whole plethora of superhero antics that simply haven't aged well whatsoever. Some such antics are outright offensive to modern eyes, whilst others are just utterly baffling in their ludicrousness.

Step forward, The Isle That Time Forgot.

A story from 1942's Batman #10, this Joseph Greene-penned offering takes place on Dick Grayson's birthday. How does Bruce Wayne usher in this day of celebration? Why, he enters the boy's room in the middle of the night and spanks the sh*t out of him, before then wishing him a Happy Birthday.

Of course, things only went more bizarre from here on out because... well, because the Golden Age. As such, Robin gets his own Batplane for his birthday, which leads the Dynamic Duo to crash-land on an island where they fight dinosaurs, sabretooth tigers, boa constrictors and an evil archaeologist. Again with the bizarreness, this whole island adventure is revealed to have been a secret movie set, with Batman and Robin have unknowingly starred in an upcoming blockbuster.

Uhu.
