7. Batman Drugged And Abused - Batman And Son

Batman The Animated Series Batgirl
DC Comics

For years, Batman: Son of the Demon was a story that left a strange taste in the mouth of many a Bat-fan. But hey, the get-out clause was that this was a non-canon tale that didn't technically 'count', right? Well, that all changed when DC Comics went and made the events of Son of the Demon canon 19 years later.

In Mike Barr and Jerry Bingham's 1987 offering, Bruce Wayne ends up somewhat settling down with long-time villain-turned-love interest Talia al Ghul. The daughter of the ominous Ra's al Ghul, Talia and her "beloved" wind up pseudo married and the two soon realise they are expecting a child.

This causes Batman to be more thoughtful in his ways, more wary of the dangers that crimefighting can bring, and he even contemplates hanging up the cape 'n' cowl. By the end of this '87 tale, Talia lies about suffering a miscarriage, the marriage is dissolved, the two go their separate ways... and al Ghul secretly puts the child, a boy, in an orphanage.

Jump ahead to 2006, and Grant Morrison decided to bring that boy - named Damian - into mainstream canon with his Batman & Son tale. Changing up elements of Son of the Demon, Morrison instead stated how Bruce Wayne was drugged and sexually assaulted by Talia in order for him to father a child; a task that the drugged Bats achieved "magnificently".
