7. Green Lantern Dates A Thirteen Year Old Girl - Green Lantern

Wrong! So very, very wrong.

Arisia was a thirteen year old member of the Green Lantern Corps who our hero Hal Jordan took a shine to. As in, he REALLY took a shine to. Although originally, Hal referred to her as "little sister", and she simply harboured an innocent schoolgirl crush on him, things soon took a turn for the extremely creepy.

We have writer Steve Englehart to thank for this. Although he did not create the character of Arisia, he is responsible for the most disturbing chapter of her history, and probably one of the most disturbing chapters of Green Lantern history altogether.

Arisia decided she wanted to act on her crush, so she used the magic of her power ring to appear as an adult woman, rather than the child that she was. She then confessed her love to Hal, and told him that being thirteen was the same as being 'of age' for her alien species. Obviously, Hal Jordan would never fall for this, and refused to date this literal thirteen year old child.

Oh wait. No. No, that's not what he did. That's not what he did at all. He fully dated her. Green Lantern straight up had a long-term relationship with an actual child.

Although at first he was worried he'd have to convince their mutual friends that he was "not a child molester" (which he demonstrably was), everybody was actually pretty cool with it (aside from the disgusted readers).
