In a story arc written by Gerry Duggan and comedian Brian Posehn, with art by Walking Dead co-creator Tony Moore. Deadpool is called in by SHIELD Agent, Emily Preston, to help deal with a horde of zombies, including a number of deceased Presidents that was raised by the Necromancer.

In the second issue of the “Dead Presidents” story arc, Deadpool is dispatched to stop the Zombie Theodore Roosevelt from “hunting” all the animals in the Los Angeles Zoo. Wade was dropped in and pointed in the right direction by some meerkat. After shooting at and fist-fighting a bear and doing something unseen to some flamingos, Roosevelt sets his sights on a massive elephant. The Mouthy Merc jumped in to save the pachyderm but was skewered on one of its tusks.

Deadpool pulled himself off of the tusk while commenting on the sound. Heeding the words of his companion, the electric ghost of Ben Franklin, he looked for an electrical solution to destroy the zombie. The elephant had gotten the upper hand in his battle with Zombie Roosevelt and had him by the neck. Wade told the elephant to let the President go as he approached with the exposed underground wire, but the enraged beast didn’t understand. As Wilson fried Teddy, he also fried the elephant and then tried to address the “elephant in the room” when Preston arrived.
