10 Most Inappropriate Spider-Man Storylines

4. Aunt May Is Spider-Man's Mother - Spider-Man: Trouble

Spider-Man MJ Peter Parker
Marvel Comics

If there's one thing that Aunt May is famous for, it's for (generally) being the kindest person in any given Spider-Man series. After all, this is the same woman who basically adopted Peter when his parents passed away, and who managed to continue to care for him and the world even after her husband was brutally murdered.

This in mind, it's profoundly inappropriate to have a comic where all of this kindness and care is thrown out of existence. Cue in Spider-Man: Trouble, a much-hated comic that details the teenage lives of Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and Peter's parents.

While it's a half-decent concept, the way the comic fails is in its plot, which sees Aunt May cheat on Ben with Peter's dad, Reilly, making her Spider-Man's biological mother. After Ben and May argue - because Ben is sterile, and thus knows that she's been cheating on him - Reilly's girlfriend Mary steps in, and tells May she'll pretend the child is hers.

Literally the only good thing about this series is that it's not considered canon. Seriously.
