10 Most Insane Alternate Universe Batmen

9. Batman Clone

Batman Grim Reaper
DC Comics

During Batman: Last Knight on Earth, Alfred created a clone of Bruce Wayne to oppose Omega, a future Elseworlds incarnation of Bruce Wayne. Elseworlds’ Wayne took a merciless authoritarian stance after being severely injured while trying to control a riot. He became the superpowered Omega using the decapitated head of Darkseid to imbue him with vast powers.

The Clone had Bruce Wayne’s memories prior to the riot. However, he spent his early life locked up in Arkham Asylum, where he was trained by Alfred via hologram. By the time he was sent to confront Omega, the villainous Batman had turned Gotham into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

The Bruce Wayne Clone cut a creepy figure. His Batsuit was cobbled together with clothing sourced from Arkham’s scraps. His choice of companion was macabre, but understandable given the lack of options.

In a similar fashion to Omega carrying Darkseid’s decapitated head, the Clone sought companionship in the Joker’s severed head preserved in a jar. The Joker remained alive in suspended animation; a punishment inflicted on the ‘Clown Prince of Crime’ for his involvement in turning Batman into the supervillain Omega.
