10 Most Insane Alternate Universe Batmen

7. Batmanhattan

Batman Grim Reaper
DC Comics

One of the many insane combos from Dark Nights: Death Metal, the final Bruce Wayne (also referred to as Batmanhattan and the Bat-Manhattan Who Laughs) mixes Batman and the god-like entity Dr. Manhattan.

After The Comedian’s Button mysteriously appeared in the Batcave, Wayne was drawn to the intense and bizarre energy it emitted. His experiment on the energy source using an intrinsic field generator failed, drawing Wayne into the machine to investigate. Having kept a keen eye on Wayne’s work, the Batman Who Laughs locked Wayne inside and turned it on.

Bruce Wayne’s disintegrated body rebuilt itself into Batmanhattan. As well as acquiring Dr. Manhattan’s blue pallor and hydrogen atom forehead emblem, he also gained some of his colossal superpowers such as Nigh-Omnipotence and Nigh-Omniscence. To monopolise these powers, the Batman Who Laughs promptly lobotomised Batmanhattan with an energy knife leaving his head a hollow open husk. He kept his victim hidden as an insurance option.

The Batman Who Laughs eventually had his brain transplanted inside of Batmanhattan’s body. This gave him access to the aforementioned god-like powers, making him one of the most powerful and feared beings in the Dark Multiverse.
