10 Most Intense Comic Books Of All Time

3. Civil War #4

Captain America Iron Man Civil War
Marvel Comics

When Marvel started its Civil War, there were bound to be some intense issues making up the crossover. There was the time when Spider-Man revealed his true identity to the world, but the really intense moment came in Civil War #4.

Iron Man and Captain America's pro and anti-registration forces came to a head in a massive conflict in this issue, but the real star of the show was the clone of Thor that Stark released on the battlefield. Few knew what to make of this phony God of Thunder, but nobody expected what came next.

Without any hesitation, Thor blasted a hole through Bill Foster, otherwise known as Goliath, and the hero (and longtime friend of pretty much everyone on the battlefield) fell dead on the spot.

This was a terrible blow to everyone involved in the conflict and it helped shape the outcome of the Civil War. This was one of those deaths that nobody saw coming, but it happened in such a way, nobody could ever forget it.
