2. The Death Of Sentry
During the Dark Avengers saga, when Sentry becomes a member of the team, it's there where he's manipulated by Norman Osborn to be his ultimate weapon of destruction. Little does Osborn know, however, it is exactly this which leads to the Void's release.
This specifically happens when Osborn decides to invade Asgard, using the Sentry to do so. When the Avengers arrive to stop Osborn, though, all hell breaks loose after the Sentry is overcome by the Void - killing two of his allies in the process. At this point, Marvel heroes and villains alike come together to stop Robert from unleashing total destruction upon Asgard, and really the world.
Once he is indeed back in control, though, Robert asks Thor to kill him so as to prevent the Void from returning, and while there's hesitation at first, Thor nevertheless grants his wish. This doesn't last for long, however, because Robert would eventually be resurrected by the Apocalypse Twins, who turn him into a pawn to use as they see fit.
He then goes after the Avengers again, but this time under the Twins influence (though his agency is later restored by the Wasp).
Although Robert had intended to end the possibility of the Void returning, it was actually during his limbo between life and death, after Thor threw his body into the sun, that the Void decides to leave Robert. So Robert returns without the Void, but just as, if not more, destructive as before, ironically enough.
